A central Phoenix homeowner took matters into his own hands Thursday night when a man allegedly attempted to break into his home. Phoenix police have identified the suspect as 24-year-old Isaiah Roggenbuck, who was shot by the homeowner during the botched intrusion just after 8 p.m., near 7th Avenue and Lynwood Street.

According to reports by FOX 10 Phoenix, the would-be intruder was attempting to force entry into the residence when he was confronted and shot by the homeowner. After being injured, Roggenbuck fled the scene on foot; he was subsequently found by police officers close to a marijuana dispensary on McDowell Road.

The injured man was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Post-treatment, Roggenbuck was released from the hospital and has been charged with one count of criminal trespassing, as stated by AZFamily. He is currently being held at the Maricopa County jail as the investigation continues.

The homeowner, whose identity has not been disclosed, escaped the harrowing ordeal physically unscathed. "Information gathered indicated that an adult male was attempting to force entry into a home when the homeowner shot the man," read a portion of the police statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. The shooting, while it resulted in no other injuries, is still under investigation by the Phoenix police.
