San Antonio's hospitality scene is getting a swanky upgrade with the new Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa, nestled at the crossroads of downtown's bustling historical attractions and Southtown's lively dining circuit. Managed by White Lodging, this luxury addition to the local lodging landscape is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, renowned for planting one-of-a-kind hotels in cities worldwide. With 253 spacious guest rooms, a much-anticipated day spa, and even a distinctive bungalow suite, "Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa is like nothing else in the city," proclaimed general manager Juan Flores in a statement obtained by CultureMap San Antonio.
The hotel's allure doesn't stop with its plush accommodations; it also boasts two distinct dining experiences: Corinne and Anaqua Garden Bar. At Corinne, which is run by executive chef Joseph Krauss, guests can savor classic American dishes with a South Texas and Gulf Coast twist, open weekdays for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and not forgetting the daily happy hour from 4-6 pm. the place also serves a weekend brunch. For a more eclectic offering, Anaqua Garden Bar, named after the towering tree gracing the property, serves up Japanese-Latin fusion dishes and original botanical cocktails.
While room service will kick off promptly, the general public must exercise a bit of patience for the spa's unveiling at Plaza; however, the property is dangling a carrot in the form of a 24-percent discount on any March appointments booked between January 18 and January 25, enticing guests to indulge once the doors swing open. With its presence, the Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa adds to the city's rich tapestry of boutique hotels, ranging from the hip converted brewery charm of Hotel Emma, with its grand warehouse windows and spacious open areas, to the cosy Victorian vibes of Noble Inns, featuring rooms dressed with antiques and nested in the King William District, as stated by CultureMap San Antonio.
Sure, San Antonio's hoteliers are no strangers to offering stays with character; establishments like Inn on the Riverwalk flaunt their colonial heritage, and Hotel Havana, with large retro bedrooms, not to mention Noble Inns with their antique furnishings, have long provided a unique touch to visiting this Texan city that balances modernity with colonial history.
