Ventura County has been rocked by grave allegations as a local man faces charges related to human trafficking of a minor for sex. Jordan Nathaniel Boyd, a Port Hueneme resident, is accused of attempting to engage a prepubescent child in commercial sex acts. Charged with four felony counts, Boyd confronts an accusation that comes with a damning caveat – each count carries the burden of a special allegation marking the crime with "planning, sophistication, or professionalism."
As District Attorney Erik Nasarenko outlined, these allegations were not taken lightly; Boyd was arraigned on January 11, where he pled not guilty. The tendrils of this case began to unfurl in late 2023 when the Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Unit of the District Attorney's Office started an investigation spurred by several troubling accusations. According to a report, Boyd sought out individuals engaged in commercial sex to solicit a child for sexual acts.
On January 9, the CEHTU, complemented by the Cyber Forensics Unit and detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office's Major Crimes and Narcotics Unit, executed a search warrant marking a significant development in the investigation. Boyd's arrest followed shortly after during a traffic stop conducted by the VCSO detectives.
Deputy District Attorney Rikole Kelly, of the Ventura County District Attorney's Office Sexual Assault Unit, will be the prosecuting voice in the courtroom. Exhibiting the gravity of the case, Boyd's bail has been set at a considerable $100,000. He is scheduled for a bail review today at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 13 of the Ventura County Superior Court and, until then, Boyd remains in custody, a sobering reminder of the charges that dangle over him.
