A high-speed chase with Quincy Police K-9 units ended in a crash and arrests on Thursday afternoon, shaking up the streets of Quincy. At around 4:25 PM, officers flagged down a Chevrolet Equinox on Independence Avenue after the Quincy Police Drug Control Unit suspected its occupants of drug trafficking, according to the Quincy Police Department's Facebook post.

The vehicle initially complied, but rapidly escalated the situation by fleeing towards Braintree and onto the I-93/Route 3, where the pursuing officer, due to safety concerns, switched off his emergency lights and siren as the suspects' vehicle increased its speed dangerously. Despite backing off, law enforcement remained in pursuit, and eventually came upon a collision involving the suspects' vehicle, which had rear-ended another car near the so-called "Braintree Split".

Alleged drug dealers Paulino Alfonso-Miranda, 34, and Jalen S. Wilkinson, 27, attempted an escape on foot but were soon caught near the crash site with help from the Massachusetts State Police and Quincy Police Department's K-9 units. On Friday, the aftermath of the chase led to the recovery of a firearm believed to be related to the incident, found by a K-9 and detectives in the vicinity of the crash.

The driver of the second vehicle involved was luckily transported with non-life threatening injuries to Beth Israel Hospital. In a slew of charges ranging from narcotics distribution to reckless endangerment, Alfonso-Miranda faces nine counts, and his accomplice Wilkinson was slapped with a list of his own during their arraignment in Quincy District Court the following day. Both men now await the consequences of a fleeting attempt at escape that has left trails of disruption and legal ramifications in its wake.
