The Rancho Cucamonga Police Department is setting up a DUI checkpoint to nab any boozy drivers trying their luck. Come January 6th, the Rancho Cucamonga Police will be out in force from the evening hours of six till the early morning transition of 2:00 AM, looking to make the roads a safer place for the city's law-abiding citizens.

The checkpoints will be strategically placed in spots around town that have been hotbeds for impaired driving mishaps in the past, and according to Deputy Magdaleno, “Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” a statement obtained by the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department's announcement

The public is reminded by the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department that driving while intoxicated is not limited to alcohol use. Driving may be hampered by a few over-the-counter and prescription drug interactions. While marijuana is lawful for both medical and recreational use, it is not permitted to drive after intoxication. Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, according to the announcement from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department.
