
According to officials, a car crash in Pleasant Hill led to a major gas leak and the evacuation of nearby residents. The incident occurred on Friday evening when two vehicles collided at a home at the Susan Lane and Doris Drive intersection, the Pleasant Hill Police Department reported.
Authorities prompted evacuations as a safety measure, with first responders, including fire crews, arriving swiftly at the scene to ensure the community's well-being. The KRON news showed images depicting the collision's aftermath involving at least two cars. Though the situation prompted considerable alarm, no injuries were reported.
Utility company PG&E was called to the site to address the significant gas leak caused by the accident. Pleasant Hill Police Department updated the community via an X post, advising residents to avoid the area initially. Their statement emphasized the collaborative efforts on scene, "As a precaution some residents have been evacuated the fire department is on scene with us."

Late into the evening, the Susan Lane and Doris Drive area remained active, with PG&E crews working to secure the gas lines and prevent further hazards. The Police Department, in a follow-up post, confirmed that the area had been reopened, "Susan Ln at Doris Dr will have PG&E crews working through the night, but the area is open again, Thank you." Meanwhile, local authorities will likely continue investigating the circumstances leading to the collision.
