In the early morning hours, Rohnert Park residents were roused by the peril of an advancing structure fire in the 1100 block of San Antonio Drive. As reported by the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, the blaze was called into the 9-1-1 dispatch around 5:30 AM, and consuming the side of a garage, it made its way into the attic.

Firefighting units from the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, backed by crews from Rancho Adobe Fire District and Sonoma County Fire District, responded to the scene with commendable swiftness. Despite the threat, they managed to corral the flames primarily to the garage, and attic within a brief 20-minute battle. The two residents and their cat escaped unscathed – a close shave with what could have been a fatal disaster.

The local Red Cross chapter is stepping in to assist the displaced family, according to official reports. They're arranging temporary accommodations, as the afflicted residence has sustained enough smoke and water damage to render it unlivable.

Investigative efforts are currently underway to unearth the incendiary's origin. Per the Department of Public Safety, preliminary suspicions point to carelessly discarded hot ashes near the garage as the likely culprit.

Heeding this recent occurrence, public safety officials appeal to citizens to observe greater caution with ash disposal. They suggest employing a metal container for such purposes situated safely from flammable materials. Acknowledgments were also expressed to Santa Rosa Fire Department and Sonoma Life Support for their contributions during the emergency response.
