San Antonio mourns as the community prepares to lay to rest 18-year-old Savanah Soto, her unborn child named Fabian, and 22-year-old Matthew Guerra after a tragic incident that occurred just before Christmas. Soto, who was pregnant and nearing her due date, and her boyfriend Guerra were found shot to death the day following Christmas, in a case that has since drawn worldwide focus and sorrow.
According to KENS 5, Soto and her unborn baby will be remembered in a visitation on Sunday, January 21, at 5 p.m. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, where a rosary is to also be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral service is set to be held on Monday, January 22, at 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, followed by a committal service at 12:30 p.m. at Wild Flower Cemetery.
Matthew Guerra, on the other hand, was laid to rest last week, with his visitation occurring at Mission Park Funeral Chapel and burial at San Jose Burial Park, as details were shared by KENS 5. The services for Guerra took place before those for Soto due to adverse weather conditions plaguing San Antonio, leading to the delays.
In the backdrop of this family tragedy, a father and son duo have been arrested and are facing serious charges related to the deaths of Soto and Guerra. Nineteen-year-old Christopher Preciado is charged with capital murder and is also accused of attempting to hide the bodies. His pre-hearing is scheduled for February 5. Accompanying him in the charges is his father, Ramon Preciado, alleged to have aided his son in concealing the bodies, with his court appearance slated for February 6, as reported by KENS 5.
