The arrests of a father-son duo in connection to a horrific triple homicide has given a San Antonio family a glimmer of hope in their quest for justice. Nineteen-year-old Christopher Preciado and 53-year-old Ramon Preciado were slapped with charges over the brutal killings of Matthew Guerra, his girlfriend Savanah Soto, and their unborn child, authorities said.
With emotions running high, Gabriel Guerra, Matthew's father, expressed an array of feelings following the arrests. "It was like a weight lifted off my shoulders, I was already getting anxious, what If we don’t get any arrests for these murders? At least that part I can start getting closure on," Gabriel uttered in a statement obtained by FOX San Antonio. The Guerra family admits that Matthew and Savanah's lifestyle choices contributed to the situation culminating in their untimely deaths, but they firmly assert that nothing justifies murder.
Christopher Preciado faces charges, which include capital murder and abuse of a corpse, while his father Ramon is charged with helping to hide the bodies and destroy evidence. According to arrest documents, the bloody incident occurred during a drug deal gone awry. Despite the gravity of events, the Preciados reportedly exhibited no remorse during their perp walks, the Guerra family told KSAT 12.
Survivors of the victims are now looking to the Bexar County District Attorney’s office to wield the sword of justice. "In my opinion, an life for a life. He didn’t even give my grandchild a chance to live and I feel he deserves what he did to them," Raquel Guerra told FOX San Antonio, calling for the maximum punishment. The DA's office has relayed that the capital crimes committee will deliberate whether to seek the death penalty after the indictment is issued.
The legal reckoning for the Preciados has mounted, with Gabriel invoking a stern philosophy when dealing with such grim affairs. "I always told him, there’s consequences," Gabriel said to FOX San Antonio, referring to his own approach with his son, Matthew. Now, with the suspects behind bars, the Guerras are hankering for a resolution that carries the full weight of the law.
