San Antonio braces for a blustery start to the week as wind gusts could ramp up to 45 mph following a cold front barreling through on Monday. Reporting from Express News, speeds are expected to escalate after a quieter weekend, already hitting 15 to 20 mph early Monday.
While the front will not plunge temperatures as an arctic blast would, residents should prepare for a steady drop throughout Monday. After peaking in the upper 60s, thermometers will dip into the 50s by evening, reaching 40s post 10 p.m. According to KSAT, San Antonio should anticipate light showers during the day, but winds remain the primary concern, potentially disrupting post-holiday setups.
Rain is on the agenda with about a 30% chance for San Antonio until early afternoon; however, heavier showers and even severe thunderstorms with hail and tornado potential are more likely east, towards Houston and Beaumont. Express News informs that blizzard conditions could wallop the Panhandle whereas West Texas might struggle with blowing dust.
Fire warnings have been issued for areas west of the city. A Red Flag Warning is in place for cities like Del Rio, signaling a high fire danger due to dry conditions and hefty wind gusts, which could reach 50 mph in some spots. Post-frontal conditions usher in cooler weather on Tuesday, with a climb back to more clement conditions mid-week, only to face another cold front by Friday, as detailed by Express News.
Looking ahead, predictions suggest another drop in temperature could arrive the following week with the possibility of lows in the 20s for San Antonio, while parts of North Texas might experience even more severe cold, noted Express News.
