A man from San Antonio has been cuffed for the slaying of a fellow man, whose corpse was unceremoniously dumped in Medina County’s outback, the local authorities say.
The body was spotted, just shy of 2 p.m. on December 27, by a motorist traveling down County Road 371. According to FOX San Antonio, Jeremy Douthit, 36, stands accused of pulling the trigger on Jorge Armando Espinosa Martinez, a 31-year-old unauthorized immigrant from Mexico, before he tossed Martinez’s body near Texas 211.
Douthit's wrap list includes murder and a notably distasteful charge – abuse of a corpse. As the investigation unfolded, leading law enforcers to Douthit's doorstep, they arrested him, and he now cools his heels in the Medina County Jail with bonds adding up to $210,000. Sheriff Randy Brown lamented the grim reality where rural roads become final resting places for the slain – "The sad part is for someone to be traveling down the road, and just see someone dumped on the side of the road like a piece of trash," Sheriff Brown observed, as mentioned in the report of FOX San Antonio.
Medina County Sheriff's Office, after conducting an extensive probe, said that Martinez bore the marks of three bullet wounds. Douthit reportedly confessed to the crime, as per officials cited by KSAT. Sheriff Brown also specified, that the incident happened in Bexar County but concluded with the body being disposed of in neighboring Medina County, a tactic not unheard of in the area.
