In a grim end to a landlord-tenant squabble, Shawn Pivonka, the landlord's boyfriend, has been charged with the murder of tenant David Beck, San Antonio police reported. Following an altercation on December 14 on West Huisache Avenue, Pivonka allegedly shot Beck, who was trying to serve an appeal against an eviction notice.
According to KENS 5, the dispute that ended in tragedy began when Beck approached to serve the landlord the appeal notice. Police say Pivonka made an aggressive move, which led Beck to draw out a gun in what was called a "defensive manner." Moments later, Pivonka allegedly drew his gun "in an offensive manner" and fatally shot Beck.
The search for evidence culminated on December 20, when detectives, having examined multiple videos from cell phones and surveillance footage, secured a murder warrant for Pivonka. He is now facing the consequences of the fatal encounter, as the law takes its course. Detectives had enough evidence to get a murder warrant issued for Pivonka, as per SAPD.
