The San Antonio Spurs and the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center are rolling up their sleeves for a good cause, as they host a blood drive that gives donors a shot at scoring free basketball tickets. In a big play for community health, fans will get a pair of tickets to the game on January 29 when the Spurs square off against the Washington Wizards, as long as they're among the first 400 to donate at the Frost Bank Center on tommorow, January 18.

Spurring supporters into action, the Spurs have teamed up with the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center for what could be one of the city’s biggest lifesaving drives. According to KENS 5, this is not the team's first rodeo; their blood drives to date have cumulatively collected more than 1,000 donations and assisted over 3,000 patients in the community. This philanthropic effort is a slam dunk for those facing health emergencies, cancer treatments, and a range of other medical battles.

"Donations are always needed to help in emergencies and a lifeline for many including cancer patients, new mothers, and premature babies," stated the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center. These lifesaving contributions are critical for diverse patients, such as those battling sickle cell disease, undergoing treatments, or coping with the ramifications of premature births.

For some, attending a basketball game is the perfect layup of entertainment, but for many in the South Texas community, the real victory is the blood donation drive held at 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Frost Bank Center, described by MSN. The center encourages locals to roll up their sleeves, not just tomorrow but to make a habit out of donating up to four times a year – an overtime effort in the fight to save lives.

With the game just a rebound away, donors are urged to make an appointment to secure their spot at the blood drive and their tickets to the hoops action. Potential life-savers can schedule their donation by visiting SouthTexasBlood.org/FrostBank or calling (210) 731-5590. While they cheer on the Spurs later this month, they'll also know they've made an assist in the health and welfare of fellow San Antonians.
