In the dead of night, officers from the San Pablo Police Department were quick to respond to the scene of a shooting at Davis Park. According to a department Facebook post, the incident, which unfolded around 3am, led to a high-speed chase and the recovery of a "ghost gun" used in the attack.
Officer Swaleh, who was patrolling the vicinity when the shooting occurred, spotted a Toyota Prius speeding away from Davis Park and pursued. The suspect's attempt at escape was futile, leading them to their doorstep, where San Pablo officers conducted the apprehension. Trying to stop the car, the suspect refused to comply until reaching their home, where they were confronted and detained by law enforcement.
No injuries were reported despite the dangerous circumstances. The diligent search of the suspect's vehicle unearthed a firearm without a serial number, commonly known as a "ghost gun." This weapon was matched to casings found at the scene, confirming its use in the shooting.
The apprehension of the suspect, following the find of the firearm, led to their arrest and subsequent booking into the local jailhouse.
