A brutal stabbing left a store clerk wounded during a robbery in Seattle's downtown area Tuesday night, sparking a police manhunt for the assailant.
The Seattle Police Department reported that they responded to the 800 block of 3rd Avenue shortly after 7:00 p.m., where they discovered a 36-year-old male clerk with a stab injury. The victim received on-site treatment from the Seattle Fire Department before being rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where he is said, to be in stable condition.
According to the Seattle Police Department Blotter, the clash erupted when the suspect attempted to make off with stolen beer. The clerk confronted the beer thief, resulting in a struggle between the two. During the tussle, the robber brandished a knife and stabbed the store worker, then fled the scene before officers arrived.
Despite an exhaustive search of the vicinity, police were unable to apprehend the suspect. The case has now fallen to the hands of robbery detectives, who are leading the investigation. Seattle PD has urged anyone with information related to the incident to come forward, and contact the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000, as detailed in a tweet from the department.
