A dump truck barreled into a multi-family home in Everett, Massachusetts, Friday morning, causing major structural damage and leaving several families without a residence, according to local authorities. The incident at the junction of Robin and Thorndike Streets sent both drivers to the hospital with minor injuries.
Everett police reported that the truck collided with a food canteen truck before slamming into the house, which caused it to be knocked from a foundation. There were approximately 12 to 15 people inside the home during this ordeal; no resident injuries were reported. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. "The food was all over — I have pictures. It was actually over the fence, too. All over the place," witness James Massone told NBC Boston.
The aftermath of the crash required the immediate evacuation of the building's occupants as emergency conditions were declared due to the home getting moved off its stable foundation. The Everett Fire Department confirmed to 7NEWS that none of those residing in the triple-decker were injured. But, the crash displaced at least three families.
After the crash, a considerable response from local authorities resulted in the closure of Robin Street. Everett Police advised locals to avoid the area for the morning's remainder.
