Tragedy struck the community as the St. Paul Police Department responded to a fatal shooting that occurred on the 1600 block of Van Buren Avenue.

SPPD officers are investigating a shooting incident that occurred overnight on the 1600 block of Van Buren Avenue and resulted in the death of one person.

The incident took place under the cover of darkness and left one individual dead. The SPPD has yet to release the identity of the victim or any suspects in the case, but they have made it known that an active homicide investigation is underway, according to the Saint Paul Police Department.
