All eyes are on Allen, Texas, as the city gears up to welcome its new police chief with pomp. The community is invited to witness the swearing-in of Steve Dye at Allen Senior Recreation Center, located at 451 St Mary Dr. The ceremony is set to take place on Feb. 1 from 3-5 p.m., followed by a reception where attendees can mingle over light refreshments, as reported by the City of Allen.
Dye, stepping out of a recent retirement as Grand Prairie's city manager, has a robust history in law enforcement that spills over 35 years. Having served as a police chief from 2011 to 2020 in Grand Prairie, his career has spanned several Texan cities including Houston, Arlington, Garland, and Colleyville. While holding the post of deputy city manager, he eagerly sought to don the police chief's hat once more.
The breadth of Dye's experience is not to be underestimated, as it includes roles that have shaped his understanding of community police work and management. Grand Prairie saw him guiding as police chief before he took the role of city manager's helm.
Allen anticipates the infusion of Dye's extensive experience and tactical knowledge into their law enforcement community. The City of Allen echoes this sentiment, having expressed their confidence in his leadership abilities on their official website. It looks forward to the veteran officer's contributions and guidance in his new role as he returns to his law enforcement roots.
