A frenzied car chase tore through the Twin Cities area on Sunday, ending in an arrest by Eden Prairie Police. The suspect, a 23-year-old male, led police across multiple jurisdictions after allegedly stealing a 2021 Dodge Charger from West St. Paul. The Eden Prairie Police Department reported the arrest occurred near the Home Depot off Valley View Road, as detailed in a press release.
The accused initiated the pursuit, evading not only the Eden Prairie Police but also the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and several police departments including those from Crystal, Brooklyn Center, Maple Grove, New Hope, and Plymouth. The chase hurtled onto eastbound Hwy. 212 before the suspect's vehicle collided with six other vehicles, one of which was rear-ended, causing minor injuries to a passenger who was later transported by Hennepin EMS.
The chase didn't slow as the stolen Charger veered off Prairie Center Drive, barreling into a parking lot before plummeting down an embankment where it finally came to rest. Miraculously, the driver was unharmed and taken into custody without further incident. He was found to be the sole occupant of the stolen vehicle.
Despite the chaos, the Eden Prairie Fire Department and State Patrol who assisted the police at the scene confirmed only minor damages to the sideswiped vehicles. An investigation into the ordeal is ongoing, with the Eden Prairie Police yet to release additional details on the matter.
