
A high-speed pursuit turned deadly in Flint on Tuesday evening after a suspect vehicle involved in a recent carjacking struck an MTA bus, leaving one dead and several injured. The Michigan State Police reported that they had spotted the vehicle connected to a felonious assault and carjacking on eastbound I-69 near Morrish Road, CBS News Detroit stated.
The suspect, fleeing in a 2009 Pontiac G8, did not yield to troopers trying to initiate a traffic stop, which resulted in a chase that lasted around three minutes. It was near Hammerberg Road, that safety concerns led the police to terminate the pursuit. Shortly after the chase ended, the suspect's vehicle crashed into an MTA bus at the intersection of Saginaw and 9th streets, authorities said. The incident, according to MLive, occurred just two minutes after the pursuit was called off.
Resulting of the crash, the rear passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, the driver was listed in serious condition at a hospital, and the front-seat passenger, after receiving treatment for minor injuries, was detained in Shiawassee County Jail. Regarding the bus, the driver and one of the passengers sustained minor injuries and were reported in stable condition after being transported to a hospital, as per abc12 News.
