Texas Game Warden Timothy Walker has proven himself a true guardian of the state's wild game and habitats, earning the prestigious Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (SEAFWA) Officer of the Year award, a recognition shared by the Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) this January.

With over two decades of unwavering commitment to wildlife conservation law enforcement, Walker's career highlights include impressive feats such as bringing poachers to justice, specifically his year-long pursuit of a perp who bagged a massive 150-inch white-tailed deer and his successful five-year probe that nailed a group of waterfowl hunters for illegal bait hunting not to mention his collaboration with federal agents to capture a culprit who took a 13-foot alligator from the Neches River which underscores his tenacity and skill, according to the TPWD.

Beyond enforcing the law, Walker serves as a licensed master peace officer and assumes the role of a mentor through high-intensity simulation training designed to prepare his fellow wardens for real-world challenges they may encounter in their quests to protect and serve both wildlife and the public.

One of his most impactful contributions is as a Forensic Reconstruction and Mapping (STORM) team member, where he’s mastered advanced technologies to help peer wardens reconstruct serious crime and boating collision scenes with startling precision which brings solace to victims' families throughout the daunting investigative process, stated the TPWD in their announcement.

"Game Warden Timothy Walker is an asset to the agency and the state of Texas," said Col. Chad Jones, TPWD Law Enforcement Director. The year 2023 also saw Walker tirelessly patrol 37,814 miles, issue 248 citations, and as an ambassador of the TPWD, conduct 14 public programs aimed at educating the community.

Among the various accolades Walker has accumulated over the years, including a Director's Life Saving Award and a Director's Citation, it’s clear his commitment to ensuring the safety of natural habitats and wildlife against human infringement is unparalleled.
