In Thousand Oaks, a city grappling with the reach of gang influence, a notable arrest has been made, causing a stir among local law enforcement and residents. Twenty-eight-year-old Brahin Valencia, a known gang member, was taken into custody on January 18th, 2024, on suspicion of tattooing minors with gang-associated insignia.
A report by the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit detailed the arrest, indicating that Valencia, currently under the supervision of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, is being held on multiple charges including Street Gang Solicitation, Unlawful Tattooing of a Minor, and Participation in a Criminal Street Gang. According to the official narrative, the tattoos were administered to youths as young as 14 and 16 and were visible signs of gang involvement.
The investigation, spurred by a surge in visible gang tattoos among local juveniles in December 2023, found compelling evidence linking Valencia to the illicit activity. Detectives discovered this evidence after executing a parole search at Valencia's residence.
His bail has been set at $100,000 and Valencia is slated for an arraignment on January 22nd. As the investigation presses forward, the Thousand Oaks Police Department firmly maintains its zero-tolerance policy on gang activity, urging the public to report any relevant information.
