In an early morning crackdown, San Rafael cops cuffed three men following a car burglary in the city’s West End, the local police department reported. Oscar Noe Nunez-Rivera, 30, Victor Manuel Orellana, 46, and Marco Antonio Vasquez-Paxtor, 29, were nabbed just after they allegedly pulled off the heist, cops said.

The trio, seen fleeing in a U-Haul rental van according to law enforcement, were stopped by officers who noticed a stash of stolen goods inside the vehicle. The tip-off came when a victim reported a vehicular break-in at the 200 block of Santa Margarita Drive, cops explained. Upon responding to the scene, the officers could scope out surveillance footage, which displayed the suspects making their getaway in the van.

Around 6:30 a.m., the suspects were spotted driving westbound on Fourth Street from San Anselmo and were subsequently pulled over by police. The San Rafael Police Department's tweet stated that the suspects’ clothing also matched what was seen in the surveillance footage, further implicating them in the crime.

All three men were booked at the Marin County Jail on several charges, including felony vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and conspiracy to commit burglary. Alongside these, Nunez-Rivera faces a charge of drug possession. At the same time, Vasquez-Paxtor, found to have a record with Marin County Probation and working at a local U-Haul, also landed a charge for violating his probation terms.

The San Rafael Police are continuing their investigation, now probing whether the accused individuals may be connected to similar incidents involving a U-Haul rental van. Detectives are wading through additional recovered stolen items to ensure they’re returned to their rightful owners. The property taken from the Santa Margarita Drive incident has been promised to be returned to the victim, according to police.

Members of the public with any pertinent information about the burglary are being asked to contact the San Rafael Police Department at (415) 485-3000 or to submit tips online at their official website.
