DALE, Texas — A pair of men are behind bars following a high-speed chase that ended with the recovery of a cache of stolen firearms and electronics, officials reported. Caldwell County deputies arrested 20-year-old Dennis Martinez and 18-year-old Bryan Jared Martinez-Ponce on New Year's Eve after the suspects allegedly fired shots from a gold Chevy pickup and then led officers on a wild pursuit, reported by CBS Austin.
After the suspects’ vehicle stopped at a residence in Dale, a search conducted by authorities revealed multiple firearms, including some stolen in Austin burglaries and from a firearm dealer, as well as narcotics. The chase which began near the intersection of FM 1185 and Barth Road, ended without further incident, though Bryan Martinez-Ponce tried to evade arrest by fleeing into the home before being apprehended, according to FOX 7 Austin.
Both suspects are currently lodged in Caldwell County Jail, with the prospect of facing additional state and future federal charges. The investigation has been a collaborative effort between the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office, the ATF, and the Austin Police Department.
