
Tragedy struck North Austin this past Saturday when two individuals perished in a fiery car collision. The accident occurred around 11:36 a.m. when a vehicle slammed into a pillar before erupting into flames on the southbound Research Boulevard service road near Lazy Lane. In response to the emergency, the Austin Fire Department rapidly managed to get the fire under control, according to CBS Austin.

The aftermath of the crash initially saw one individual being declared dead at the scene. It was approximately 45 minutes later that first responders confirmed a second fatality. The vehicular inferno greatly impacted traffic, causing delays as police launched an investigation. Officials have advised motorists in the area to be prepared to adjust their routes accordingly to avoid the congested scene, as per CBS Austin.
Austin-Travis County EMS identified the location of the collision in the 8400 block of Research Boulevard, nestled between Fairfield Drive and Lazy Lane. The crews on-site responded swiftly to what turned out to be a catastrophic event, reported by KXAN.
