Two young men have been indicted on murder charges related to a fatal shooting that took place last June in a Gwinnett County park. The victim, 19-year-old Brian Arnold-Causey, had been shot at Lenora Park in Snellville, only to be dropped off at a nearby fire station where he succumbed to his wounds, as reported by Atlanta News First.
According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, 18-year-old Anwar Brenard Singleton from Loganville is facing a slew of charges including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies. Singleton, who was arrested on October 28, 2023,, has been booked into the Gwinnett County Jail. The second suspect, 19-year-old Prince James from Snellville, has also been charged but is currently on the run with his location unknown. In a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta, Sgt. Michele Pihera of the Gwinnett County Police Department relayed the lengthy period between the crime and the ongoing search for James.
Officials have pieced together a narrative of events that suggests a dispute escalated into gunfire after Arnold-Causey and the suspects encountered each other while in separate vehicles. Following the shooting, the victim's companions, in a frenzied bid for his survival, transported him to the fire station. However, Arnold-Causey died soon after from his injuries.
Authorities are reaching out to the public for assistance in locating James. Sgt. Pihera warned the public not to approach James and instead urged anyone with potentially beneficial information to come forward, asking them to call 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
