Warren, Michigan, became the unexpected stage for a school bus mishap early Monday morning, as reports confirm a pedestrian was struck by a school bus on the corner of 12 Mile and Mound roads. Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer disclosed, in a statement obtained by The Detroit News, that the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. The victim, alleged to have walked out in front of the moving vehicle, has been hospitalized but is in stable condition.

Further to Commissioner Dwyer's account, "The bus driver does not appear to be at fault." Investigations are still ongoing to determine the full details of the accident. There were no children present on the bus at the time of the crash, a detail confirmed by Robert Livernois, superintendent of the Warren Consolidated Schools district, during an interview with The Detroit News. It is understood that the driver is a district employee.

Elsewhere, a New Jersey neighborhood witnessed a disturbing scene on Wednesday as a school bus, carrying 18 students from Warren County Technical School, collided with a Nissan Altima before crashing into a residential home. As reported by Digital Chew, the driver of the Nissan attempted a left turn, which tragically misfired, resulting in the bus being propelled into the house after hitting a pole. The bus driver, aged 76, has been hospitalized with no further details being released on his condition.

No injuries among the student passengers or house residents were reported "School buses are often referred to as 'the safest vehicles on the road'," per Digital Chew, echoing National Transportation Safety Board's (NTSB) assessments. The investigation is ongoing.

According to further details shared by Commissioner Dwyer with WWJ Newsradio, drivers were advised to anticipate police presence as the investigation nears its conclusion. No lingering delays or roadblocks in the area have been reported as of yet.
