Chaos erupted on a Huntington Beach intersection last night as a vehicle, reportedly speeding out of control, crashed into a light pole and wall, trapping its two occupants. The accident occurred around 7:15 pm at the intersection of Bushard and Hamilton, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department's Facebook page.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the car on the sidewalk, sandwiched tragically between the unforgiving steel of a light pole and the unyielding concrete of a wall. The Huntington Beach Fire Department had to quickly respond to extricate the young adults trapped inside the mangled steel. The driver's injuries were severe enough to warrant an airlift to a nearby hospital.
Initial investigations suggest that the vehicle was traveling at a "high rate of speed" and lost control, leading to the devastating crash at the northwest corner of the intersection. The statement obtained by the Huntington Beach Police Department indicated that the speed was indeed a critical factor in the incident.
The authorities are thoroughly investigating the scene to ascertain the complete details of the event. As of now, the police have not released any additional information as the investigation into the collision continues to quickly evolve.
