A hit-and-run case that resulted in the death of a Ypsilanti woman is unfolding in Washtenaw County, where officials have identified the vehicle and driver involved in the tragic event. The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office confirmed the discovery of a white 2020 Grand Cherokee Jeep, linked to the hit-and-run accident that occurred last weekend, The Detroit News reported.
The incident took place around 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, when a 53-year-old woman was hit while walking along Prospect Road in the Superior Township area, near Prospect Road and Park Lane. Authorities arrived to find the woman deceased by the roadside, after which, an investigation commenced. Despite finding car parts at the crash site and identifying the driver, no arrests have been made, sheriff's officials clarified they are still investigating the matter.
The search for the hit-and-run driver picked up speed after the damaged SUV was spotted in Superior Township on Wednesday night.
