Whataburger is planting its 1,000th flag right here in Cobb County, Atlanta. Breaking into the ATL's fast-food scene with gusto, the Texas chain's new spot is set up at 2955 Cobb Parkway, a stone's throw from the bustling Battery, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

Whataburger is dishing out some southern charity along with its Southern hospitality, announcing a $10,000 donation to the Atlanta Food Bank. And, for the die-hard burger fans willing to hit the drive-thru line early, the first two guests will be chowing down on free Whataburger for a year, FOX 5 Atlanta revealed.

The grand opening is set for high noon on Tuesday, and if the fast-food chain’s recent expansion in the area is any indication, expect to see a heck of a lot more Whataburgers popping up. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the chain has opened eight locations across various counties in the metro Atlanta area, marking its growth in a competitive market, and reports a presence in 14 states thus far.

Whataburger's rise to burger fame traces back to 1950 when Harmon Dobson set out to create a burger that would make diners exclaim, “What a burger!” The chain's now-famous Fancy Ketchup even has its own Facebook following of over 16,000, 11Alive noted.

The company has set its sights, planning over 50 locations in the area over the next six years, as 11Alive reported.
