San Antonio is grappling with the grip of winter as nearly 3,000 residents faced power blackouts on Monday morning, according to CPS Energy's outage map. The major hit was taken by neighborhoods adjacent to SeaWorld, where the outage impacted over 2,700 households. Officials from CPS Energy confirmed, "crews are on-site working quickly and safely to restore power," as reported by Fox San Antonio.
While the signs of the outage were apparent, the utility company pinpointed the disruptions to weather-related issues and stated that assessment was still in progress. "The map shows a handful of other weather-related outages," as reported by KSAT. Deteriorating conditions prompted the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to urge energy conservation through the morning, as the city's temperatures plunged into the icy teens alongside patches of freezing drizzle.
Residents in need of warmth were advised to seek out the city's warming centers, while up-to-the-minute outage details and safety advisories could be accessed via CPS Energy's website or social media channels. For those in need of reporting a power outage or curious about affected areas, CPS Energy encourages calling 210-353-HELP (4357) or visiting their website and clicking on the Outage Center.
