A 73-year-old woman tragically lost her life in Shelby Township after being hit by a vehicle, authorities confirmed. The accident occurred at around 8 p.m. on January 31, on 25 Mile Road near Mound Road, when the elderly pedestrian was struck by a driver, ClickOnDetroit reported.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was taken to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The driver, a 55-year-old woman from Macomb Township stopped at the scene, cooperating with the law enforcement as they try to unravel the circumstances behind the incident, according to CBS News Detroit. In what appears to be a non-alcohol-related tragedy, the Shelby Township Police Department has indicated that the initial investigation suggests no drugs or alcohol were involved.
