In an update that has brought a collective sigh of relief to the community and family members, the Long Beach Police Department confirmed that 74-year-old Lucrezia Mendoza, previously reported missing, has been found safe and sound. Mendoza, who suffers from cognitive conditions that could leave her disoriented, had last been seen on the morning of February 21, disappearing without trace after visiting a business on Anaheim Avenue. Her family's concerns were heightened due to her lack of communication means such as a cell phone or tracking device.
The original plea for public assistance was urgently broadcast by authorities who detailed the attire she wore at the time of her disappearance: a black sweatshirt, blue pajama pants with bears on them, and black dress shoes. Notwithstanding the lack of scars, marks, or tattoos, the specific description aimed to trigger public recognition and facilitate a swift resolution to her disappearance. Long Beach Police had swung into full gear, disseminating her information widely and tapping into community vigilance.
According to the Long Beach Police Department's press release, the good news came early in the morning the following day, as Mendoza was located unharmed and was promptly reunited with her relieved family. The details surrounding her whereabouts during the time she was missing have not been disclosed. The department thanked the public and media for their assistance in ensuring a positive outcome.
