Air India is setting its sights on a significant expansion, planning to introduce non-stop flights to several major US cities, the airline's insiders have confirmed. The Tata Group-owned flag carrier is working on adding more of the advanced Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 aircraft to its fleet, aiming to commence ultra-long-haul flights to Seattle, Los Angeles, and Dallas. This move is part of a broader effort to streamline its operations, which also includes the potential merger with Vistara, according to AviationA2Z.
Sources suggest that Air India plans to shake up its existing schedule as part of the expansion, potentially relocating all its B777 operations to London Heathrow. Misplaced within the buzz of expansion news, the carrier is also reportedly looking at initiating flights from Bengaluru to London Gatwick, which would mark a strategic addition to its European sector, as stated in Times of India.
The A350 is expected to service the Seattle route, while the 777 will likely fly to Los Angeles and Dallas. This expansion strategy signifies Air India's commitment to bridging the geographical divide between India and the US, catering to the growing demand for direct connectivity.
