An 11-week-old puppy named Elsie, who was severely burned by boiling water, has succumbed to her injuries in Alpharetta. Officials at Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, Inc. detailed that the puppy was admitted to an emergency veterinary hospital severely burned over a week after the incident. An attendant with the rescue team informed them that Elsie was given to a three-year-old child who either dunked her into a pot of boiling water or poured the scalding liquid upon her, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Following the tragic event, Angels Rescue took to Facebook, expressing, "By now, you have seen our heartbreaking post. Elsie had such hope in her eyes." The post indicated that despite initial signs of improvement, including a successful transfusion and a positive response to a liquid diet, Elsie's condition deteriorated. Marred by bandages disguising the extent of her pain, the rescue faced a harsh reality as "a precious puppy in an adorable pink bandage wrap" was also "a red, scalded body with patches of skin peeling off."
However, despite all efforts by her caretakers, Elsie passed away, with the team citing that she "succumbed to her injuries." The outpouring of emotion following the puppy's death was significant, with many expressing anger toward the unnamed family and others showing gratitude to the rescue team for their compassion. A user's comment highlighted by FOX 5 Atlanta reflected the sentiment of support: "She knew so much love in the last days of her life. Thank you for helping her."
Angels Rescue, grieving the loss, encouraged community involvement in fostering to help other animals, in memory of Elsie. Meanwhile, the status of any legal action regarding this case is yet to be determined. "We fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies to assist with any charges that may be filed," officials from the rescue shared in a statement featured by WSB-TV. To honor Elsie and support other animals in need, the community is encouraged to contribute to the rescue's cause.
