Arlington is eyeing a fresh take on farmers markets, and they want locals to weigh in before they dig into planting a new one.
The city has deployed online surveys in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese which will stay open until March 6, as they want to hear from residents and vendors about how a farmers market would best serve The American Dream City, the surveys are a step the city is taking to determine the desire for local farm-to-table options, this according to the City of Arlington, Texas.
Arlington's move is inspired by the blooming success of neighboring markets in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, home to some 60-odd markets like the prominent Dallas Farmers Market and the vibe-rich Clearfork Farmers Market in Fort Worth.
The city aims to understand community preferences for market features, from food trucks and dining spaces to free parking and element protection, besides figuring out what products would sell, the surveys delve into potential locations, hours, and such, and the results will be presented for evaluation to the Arlington City Council’s Community and Neighborhood Development Committee come late March.
To craft a farmers market that reflects the wants and needs of Arlington's people, the city is gathering insight that could lead to a new local tradition, fostering community and providing accessibility to healthier food choices.
