Lamar High School's own Kyndall Moyers has made her mark on the field and in the classroom, snagging the City of Arlington’s Student-Athlete of the Month title for February 2024. This junior isn't just kicking goals on the girls soccer team; she's also acing English, her favorite subject, with plans to take her soccer career to the collegiate level.
Despite an Honorable Mention All-District nod as a freshman, Moyers faced a significant hurdle the following year. Sidelines became her unwanted companion during most of her sophomore season due to a tough knee injury. Looking to make a comeback, Moyers impressed her coaches with her determined ethos. According to the City of Arlington, Texas, Jana Hammonds, the head coach, praised her resilience, "She had a very severe knee injury during her sophomore year, everything the coaches, trainers, and doctors asked her to do, she did. Now, she’s back and plays all over the field for us."
Now back in action, Kyndall's diversity on the soccer field is drawing eyes from all corners. Hammonds lauded her versatility, emphasizing that Kyndall didn't just heal, but came back stronger, now playing across various positions for her high school team. Her performance has been nothing short of extraordinary, ensuring that injury is but a footnote in her growing tale of athletic prowess.
As Moyers sets her sights on her future, the balance between academics and sports remains a keystone of her high school experience. Dedicated to her subject of choice, her grit on the soccer field rivals her skill with the pen in English class. While discussing her journey, her English class passion shone through, intertwining with her sporting ambitions and revealing the silhouette of a student-athlete dedicated to excellence—on the field and in thought.
