The streets of East Austin are gearing up to welcome a couple of spirited new watering holes courtesy of the team behind the South Austin gem, Armadillo Den. Slated to set the scene on Cesar Chavez Street are Dainty Dillo and Chalmers – two bar-centric ventures with a solid food game to boot.

Dainty Dillo, described by Community Impact as a spin-off of its Southern cousin, will take over the former Tillery Bar and Kitchen spot. Eaters and drinkers can dive into draft cocktails, beers, and bites including Texas Cheesesteak and brunch options such as sweet potato hash. The space is decked out with a large back patio, fire pits, and a stage made ready for live jams.

Not far down the road, Chalmers is revving up late March excitement at an old renovated Shell station. They're throwing in a mix of pub-garden chill with live music and room for the pups to run around. "East Texas flair" flavors the menu here, stacking up patty melts and steak fingers along with drafts and cocktails, shared by MySA.

Getting into the nitty-gritty, Dainty Dillo perches at 3201 E. Cesar Chavez St. with a February ribbon-cutting, while Chalmers will hang its shingle at 1700 E. Cesar Chavez St. come late March. Both spots nod to the Armadillo Den's affinity for outdoorsy vibes and laid-back conviviality.

The ventures are not a one-off expansion either. The Armadillo Den squad is also developing a project in Gruene, Texas. Still in its infancy, no hard and fast opening date is set for this third locale. The team, however, exudes optimism. “We’re so excited to have the opportunity to take over such an awesome space and make it our own,” they shared in a statement obtained by MySA.
