
Austin's Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) office is rolling out an Emergency Preparedness Pop-up event slated for Feb. 21. The meet-up at the Pleasant Hill Branch Library, located at 211 E. William Cannon Dr., Austin, TX 78745, offers residents a chance to scoop up some survival tips straight from the pros—from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., citizens can engage with HSEM reps and emergency partners looking to impart crucial knowledge.
With a spate of hazards like floods, wildfires, and other extreme weather events threatening the Central Texas area, HSEM is stepping up its game to educate the public during these free sessions, and the first 25 walk-ins are in for a treat—they're handing out emergency supply kits to early birds, while supplies last, of course, but there's a one-kit-per-household cap.

These monthly pop-up sessions, part of a city-wide initiative, are strategically hosted in different City Council Districts on the third Wednesday of each month, aiming to spread the gospel of disaster readiness to all corners of the community.
