Austin residents are bracing for blustery conditions as the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the region effective until 6 PM CST this evening. The advisory warns of northwest winds reaching speeds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. The NWS cautions that "gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects" and the potential for tree limbs to be blown down could lead to a few power outages. The agency advises extra caution for those driving, particularly in high-profile vehicles, and recommends securing outdoor objects. More information on the advisory can be found on NWS's website.
In addition to strong winds, Austin can expect sunny skies today with a high near 68 degrees, though temperatures will dip to around 50 degrees tonight with continued gusts as strong as 30 mph, according to the NWS forecast. The crisp conditions will carry over to Monday with mostly sunny weather and a high near 64 degrees. Northwest winds are expected to blow at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. The full weather details for the week, including a 30 percent chance of showers by the weekend, are available on NWS's official forecast page.

Aside from the gusty conditions, Austin's weather is set to be quite pleasant for the remainder of the week with sunny skies and temperatures steadily rising to a high near 74 by Saturday. A less undeviating storm system spinning out of the area has paved the way for calmer weather midweek, though another system could sprinkle a few showers across the area from Thursday into the next weekend. However, "rain projections do not look significant nor widespread at this time," reports KXAN.
Local residents are encouraged to take note of the weather changes, especially the spike in cedar pollen that might be aggravated by the strong winds. While the risk of rain seems low for the remainder of the week, the community is advised to secure any loose items in their yards to prevent damage or accidents due to the windy conditions.
