A sprawling new grocery store selling halal lamb, chicken and seafood alongside fresh produce and prepared Indian dishes has opened inside Pflugerville's busiest shopping center. Desi Dukaan, a 10,000-square-foot Indian grocery store and restaurant, opened on August 21 at 19116 Limestone Commercial Drive, taking over the space long occupied by a pool hall.
The market sits inside Stone Hill Town Center, the massive retail complex at the intersection of SH 130 and SH 45, according to Community Impact. Beyond the grocery aisles stocked with meats and freshly prepared foods, the store includes an on-site restaurant, juice bar and bakery, and it is owned by Hari Nemireddy along with other business partners. Shoppers can follow the store's offerings on its Instagram account.
The business behind the store also has a federal trademark application on file. Filed on October 28, 2025 by Hari Charan Reddy Namireddy and Shivani Kadiyala, the application for “D DESI DUKAAN GROCERY MEAT & EATERY” covers retail grocery services with halal meats and prepared items, along with restaurant services, according to filing records reviewed by Trademarkia. That application was published for opposition in July.
A Storefront With a Revolving Door
The 10,000-square-foot space wasn't always destined for samosas and spices. Billiard Factory opened there in August 2022 after construction delays, then closed in October 2025 after just over three years in business, per Community Impact's reporting on the closure. That vacancy set the stage for Desi Dukaan's move into the building barely a year later.
The same building at 19116 Limestone Commercial Drive has seen other food-related turnover too. State commercial development records show a $275,000 tenant fit-out project was completed in August 2024 for Tikkaa Chophouse in Suite 110 of that building, a 4,060-square-foot renovation that added patio seating and exterior ramp accessibility, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Why Stone Hill Town Center
Desi Dukaan's landing spot is no small strip mall. Stone Hill Town Center spans 94.73 acres and includes nearly 1 million square feet of commercial space at the SH 130 and SH 45 interchange, according to leasing developer NewQuest Properties. The center ranks among the top 15 most-visited shopping centers in Texas, pulling more than 7 million annual visits and serving over 73,000 households within a five-mile radius, per the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation.
That kind of foot traffic makes the center a magnet for expansion. NewQuest Properties announced in August that the center's final phase includes new dining tenants Cava, Piada Italian Street Food and Hopdoddy Burger Bar alongside an 8,500-square-foot indoor playground, as reported by CultureMap Austin. That phase reportedly caps 20 years of retail growth at the property. Hoodline previously covered the Piada addition to Stone Hill.
A Fast-Growing Customer Base
Desi Dukaan's arrival tracks with demographic shifts already reshaping Pflugerville. U.S. Census Bureau data shows the city's population sits at roughly 66,000 to 68,000 residents, with Asian residents accounting for about 8.6% to 9.3% of that total, and a median household income exceeding $117,000. A 2026 regional report by the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce identified Pflugerville alongside Round Rock and Northwest Austin as primary residential hubs for Central Texas's fast-growing Asian population, noting that suburban zip codes in north Travis and Williamson counties show especially high concentrations of Asian households.
Desi Dukaan isn't the only South Asian grocer eyeing the region. National chain Patel Brothers announced in late 2025 that it plans to open its first Austin-area store sometime in 2026, according to WhatNow Austin. Patel Brothers operates more than 50 locations nationwide featuring fresh South Asian groceries and prepared foods, meaning Desi Dukaan will soon have competition beyond the established Asian supermarkets already in North Austin and Round Rock.
Grocery Investment Is Already Heating Up Locally
Desi Dukaan's independent opening arrives amid a broader wave of grocery investment in Pflugerville. Hoodline reported that the FM 685 Walmart just finished a $1.8 million makeover in August, and JuiceLand opened an in-store counter inside the H-E-B on Pflugerville Parkway in February. Together, those moves show regional grocers actively upgrading fresh and prepared food options to keep pace with suburban shoppers, even as smaller, specialty operators like Desi Dukaan stake their own claim in the market.
