Tragedy struck at an Austin hotel when a man was found dead, leading to a murder investigation that concluded with a suspect behind bars. On Wednesday, February 21, at the InTown Suites on US Hwy 183, Austin Police Department officers were called to a disturbing scene. An unresponsive male, Robert StJohn, lay in a room suffering from a fatal stab wound and was pronounced dead minutes after the officers arrived.
As the investigation unfolded, detectives discovered that StJohn was not alone during his final moments. A woman, Indira Zink, was identified as someone who had been with StJohn. Surveillance and witness accounts pointed to Zink as the assailant who, two days before the discovery of the body, allegedly stabbed StJohn, leading to his untimely death.
According to the Austin Police Department, a warrant was swiftly issued for Zink's arrest. The pursuit for justice culminated on Friday, February 23, when the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force located Zink and took her into custody without incident. Zink is now charged with first-degree felony murder, a charge that carries with it the heavy burden of a life distorted by violence and the premature end of a life.
Authorities encourage anyone with further information to come forward and assist in shedding light on the circumstances leading to StJohn's death. Tips can be shared with the Austin Police Department, or anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers. As the law reaches out its long arm to deliver punishment to the guilty, the community is left to grapple with the ripples of a life cut short. For those who might hold keys to deeper truths, their silence is a luxury that justice can ill afford.
