Bastrop County Man Arrested, Suspected of Illegal Firearm Possession and Narcotics Charges in SmithvilleSource: Facebook/Bastrop County Sheriff's Office

A Bastrop County man has been arrested after neighbors lodged complaints about continuous gunfire at his Smithville property. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Bo Allan Morkovsky, was taken into custody last week, according to the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office. Morkovsky's residence on Hidden Shores Loop was smaller than the five-acre minimum required for the lawful discharge of firearms in a platted subdivision, sparking the ire of surrounding homeowners who grew concerned with the incessant shooting, according to the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office.

After the local community gave the sheriff's office a video showing Morkovsky, a possibly convicted felon, with a gun, law enforcement officials acquired a search warrant. The Bastrop County Sheriff's Office detailed their findings, including evidence that "supported the charge of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and other possible firearm related violations." This was happening in the suspect's lot, which was reported being shot at consistently by Morkovsky.

Illegal narcotics were also discovered on the premises, leading to additional charges against Morkovsky, who was slapped with a state firearm violation and is expected to face other charges. Following the arrest, he was released on a $50,000 bond. Meanwhile, a woman at the residence, Amanda Klaus, 41, also found herself in handcuffs, charged with possession of a controlled substance and subsequently released on a $10,000 bond, as per the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office.
