Benicia and San Ramon police teamed up to crack a $6,000 diesel fuel heist this week, resulting in the arrest of two suspects caught returning to the scene of the crime. According to a Benicia Police Department Facebook post, officers initially responded to the theft at a Benicia gas station where a pump had been vandalized. Surveillance footage helped law enforcement to identify suspects driving two pickup trucks.

This afternoon, a San Ramon Police Detective saw the vehicles heading northbound on I680 toward Benicia and swiftly notified Benicia PD. The suspects were found to have daringly returned to the very gas station they'd allegedly vandalized. Upon their detention by Benicia officers, a piece of evidence - part of the damaged gas pump - was located in one of the trucks. The duo was arrested without incident and booked into Solano County Jail. One of them was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from Texas.

On a concurrent note, the Benicia police reported another unfolding investigation. Details found on Benicia's public crime graphics website reveal two individuals, Juan Miguel Castillovega and Jose Morgado Nunez, were arrested on a series of felony and misdemeanor charges, including grand theft, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, as well as vandalism. Both men, who share similar profiles and face serious charges, were apprehended on the 5900 block of East 2nd Street following an on-view observation by officers.

Castillovega, 32, and Nunez, 53, each stand 5 feet 6 inches tall and appear in the mugshots with black and brown hair, respectively. Nunez additionally had a felony warrant out from an outside agency. The details of their alleged crimes have yet to unfold as the investigation continues. In contrast, their presence in the crime listings hints at the relentlessness of local law enforcement to apprehend and bring to book those accused of disrupting public order and safety in Benicia.
