The search for a missing Acworth man has ended in heartbreak after his body was pulled from a Haralson County lake on his own property. Ardell Junior Kennedy, 78, was reported missing Friday night by alarmed relatives who discovered his truck, but not Kennedy, on his Buchanan land. At 450 Tab Road, that local authorities initiated an exhaustive search late into the night.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Kennedy had set out that morning around 8:30 a.m., with plans to visit this property. When the evening came and there was no sign of his return, the concern grew into action. Alongside the truck, a tractor and bush hog were also reported missing — elements that later led searchers to the tragic discovery at the edge of a lake.
Multiple agencies, including the Haralson County Fire Department, DNR, and the Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit joined forces in the urgent effort, as noted by WSB-TV. Compounding the difficulties, Kennedy's cell phone had been turned off since roughly noon on the day of his disappearance, which thwarted electronic search efforts.
The somber resolution to the search came when Carroll County Fire and Rescue Dive Team located Kennedy’s body in a lake. "Sadly, this was not the outcome we wanted in a case," Haralson County Sheriff Stacy Williams said in a statement. His words carried a note of defeat, shared by all those who had hoped for a different ending to this distressing chapter.
