A Dorchester man is facing drug trafficking charges after Boston police found him with a stash of fentanyl and Percocet pills following a traffic violation, authorities said.

Officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) stopped Hector Lara Cruz, 24, on Columbia Road and Washington Street on Tuesday night when they spotted him blowing through a red light and speeding. During the stop, cops discovered that Cruz was driving without an active license and placed him under arrest, according to the Boston Police Department.

Upon searching the suspect, officers uncovered a large bag containing a substantial amount of suspected narcotics. The contents of the bag were later determined to hold 67 individual wrapped plastic bags of fentanyl, weighing in at about 80 grams, and an additional plastic bag with 263 pills presumed to be Percocet, weighing roughly 33 grams.

Following the find, Cruz was charged with trafficking of class A, trafficking of class B drugs, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. The defendant is expected to face these charges at his upcoming arraignment in a Dorchester District Court.
