The search for a Buford man who mysteriously vanished several months ago has ended on a positive note. Gwinnett County Police confirmed that 59-year-old Robert Emory Haygood was found safe yesterday, however, all details concerning his disappearance and location were conspicuously withheld. Haygood, who seemed to have vanished into the ether in December of last year, was last witnessed at a funeral service before he fell off the grid, with attempts at reaching him hitting a dead end.

Family members had grown increasingly disturbed after not being able to get in contact with Haygood for over a month, compelling his kin to seek help from the authorities. His daughter, distressed from the lack of communication, reached out to law enforcement on Feb. 19, according to a report by WSBTV. She disclosed that his phone number no longer accepted calls and that his home remained silent, a placid scene that did not align with the character of the man they knew.

The Gwinnett County Police, who had earlier disseminated a call to the public for assistance in tracking down Haygood, described him as being about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing roughly 160 pounds, with blue eyes and gray hair. Prior to his disappearance, he resided on the 2900 block of Pebblebrook Drive in Buford and did not possess access to any vehicle, said the police as documented by FOX5 Atlanta.

While the cloud of obscurity surrounding Haygood's disappearance still lingers, the relief from his safe return has undoubtedly lightened the burden on his family. Authorities are to remain tight-lipped, not having yet publicly disclosed any leads or theories they might have pursued in the intervening time between Haygood's disappearance and his eventual discovery. The Gwinnett County Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta had both, previously and persistently urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in any way possible.
