Big night for local heroes at the annual Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) banquet. The Alan Sims Recreation Center was abuzz on February 2 as the CPAAA gathered to celebrate the dedication and service of their volunteers. According to the Cedar Hill Police Department, the night was filled with accolades for those who selflessly serve their community.
The highlight of the evening was the bestowment of "CPAAA Volunteer of the Year" to Joyce Alexander for her unwavering commitment. Not far behind, Lisa Marcontel was honored as the "New Member of the Year," swiftly making her mark in the community. The Citizens on Patrol Unit (COP), an integral part of public safety, bestowed Bill Goodson with the title COP "Volunteer of the Year" for keeping a watchful eye over the neighborhoods.
The CPAAA and its volunteers are the unsung heroes of Cedar Hill, pouring uncounted hours into patrolling local streets, delivering food to the aging population, backing up city events, and supporting law enforcement personnel. "Our volunteers have dedicated many years of service to our department and city," as per the Cedar Hill Police Department, recognizing the myriad of roles these individuals play in the local fabric.
"We could not operate at the level we do without our volunteers," the Cedar Hill Police Department made clear. This ethos defines the symbiotic relationship between the police and residents of Cedar Hill. An interdependency that fuels, and is fueled by, the shared desire for a secure and harmonious community. The contribution of these volunteers indeed creates an undeniable bond of citizenship and vigilance, a bond that was rightly celebrated at last night's event.
