The city of Conyers has lauded two of its most outstanding employees at a special breakfast event held last week. Senior financial analyst Sadina Jurgens snagged the Dee Buggay Award of Excellence, effectively crowning her as Conyers's Employee of the Year. Jurgens, a dedicated staffer with over 28 years under her belt, was hailed as someone who exemplifies hard work and commitment in the city’s Finance Department, according to city officials.
Her surprise came when the festivities unfolded in the Georgia International Horse Park's Carriage Room, where, amid family members including her husband and several of her seven grandchildren, City Manager Tony Lucas and Mayor Vince Evans gave her the nod. Known for her accuracy, resourcefulness, and friendliness, Jurgens has climbed the ladder within the city's employment, securing nine promotions and serving across three departments. Mayor Evans and Lucas described Jurgens, in a statement obtained by the city’s news release, as an employee who "always finds a way to get the job done."
The Dee Buggay Award, named after the city's former human resources director and the award's inaugural recipient, has been recognizing Conyers employees for 26 years. Buggay's legacy is enshrined in the naming of the accolade, reflecting the high benchmark for excellence expected from city employees.
Further celebrating the city's workforce, the PEACH Award was dished out to another exemplary figure, Charles “CB” Bryant. Employed as a security technician for Conyers Security Alert, Bryant's recognition stems from his exceptional people skills and upbeat demeanor. According to officials, the award is geared towards those employees who go out of their way to render services pleasant for both customers and coworkers. The award, mirroring the qualities of a ripe peach, to the city lies at the heart of Conyers' vibrancy and persistent pulse.
Nominations and votes for these accolades pour in from department directors and the city manager, underscoring a peer-reviewed process that points to the recipients' esteemed reputations among their colleagues. Conyers clearly holds its workforce in high regard, celebrating their achievements with as much fanfare as they contribute to the city’s daily operations.
