
A routine traffic stop on Angeles Crest Highway quickly escalated when Deputy Underwood of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station clocked a vehicle speeding at a dangerous 63MPH in a 45MPH zone. After pulling over the offending vehicle, a search uncovered a loaded firearm inside, leading to the immediate arrest of both the driver and passenger.
The incident occurred early in the morning, according to a Facebook post by the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station. As Deputy Underwood proceeded to thoroughly check the vehicle, not only did he manage to find a loaded weapon, but a warrant check also revealed that the driver was wanted on a felony child abuse warrant. The official report stated: "During a search of the vehicle, we found a loaded firearm inside."
The driver and their companion have been booked at the Crescenta Valley Station Jail, facing serious charges including possession of a concealed firearm and possession of a loaded firearm. Additionally, the driver is now confronted with charges related to the outstanding warrant.
A separate statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reiterated the severity of the offenses and the diligent work of Deputy Underwood. It noted, "The driver and passenger were arrested for possession of a concealed firearm and possession of a loaded firearm. The driver was also additionally charged for a warrant."
Both suspects remain in custody pending further proceedings, and their identities have not been officially released by the authorities. The Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Department has reminded the public of the dangers of carrying unlicensed weapons and the importance of adhering to traffic laws for the safety of all road users.
